Maria (Maja) Wilhelmina Fröberg was born March 21, 1886 in Västerås. She was a Swedish artist and textile pattern designer.
Fröberg studied at Valands målarskola (Valand's painting school) in Gothenburg in the 1910s and during several study trips to Germany, Belgium, Denmark and Norway. She spent time Paris where she studied at Maison Watteau.
Select exhibitions include works in the group exhibition of Sörmland artists in Eskilstuna, with the Föreningen Svenska Konstnärinnor (Association of Swedish Artists), at Liljevach's Konsthall, at Hälsingborgs konsthall 1917, with the VBKÖ (Vereinigung Bildender Künstlerinnen Österreichs - Austrian Association of Women Artists).
Best known for her landscape paintings in oil, she also worked with linocuts. As a textile graphic designer she produced Gothic-Romantic inspired room decorations with landscape motifs. Among her public works are the oil paintings for Eskilstuna Higher General School, Slottsskolan in Eskilstuna, Flickskolan in Eskilstuna and for IOGT's study hall in Eskilstuna.
Fröberg passed away at the age of 75 on January 27, 1962 in Eskilstuna.
