While being candid, he never sought to shock or make his subjects uncomfortablein doing so, he earned their lasting trust. They in turn granted him images that are iconic and highly personal like his portraits of personalities such as Willy Brandt, Alfred Hitchcock, or Maria Callas. It might be said that it is hard to define Lebeck's style. He's not known for stylistic shortcuts or repetitive gimmicks. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment is the unique and careful approach he brings to all of his work.
