Estragel in the Roussillon region is somewhat the wild west of France. Gnarled vines are testimony to many hot summers, and concentration may be the word that best describes Raymond Marchon’s wines. Some of his plots are on clay-limestone, others on gneiss. His wines are a testament to the incredible quality of the grapes when they enter the cellar - wines are always wild fermented, never fined or filtered and Raymond rarely, if ever uses any sulphur.

A very concentrated wine, Jeff is a field blend from 80 year old bush vines co-planted with different varieties on a single south facing terraced slope on clay-calcareous soil. This plot is one of Raymond’s lowest producing at just 10hl/ha (this means that only around half a bottle is produced per vine!). After a long whole bunch maceration the juice is passed to old oak barrels for ageing of nine months. Bottled with no additions.
